Big Sugar

Big Sugar the Canadian blues-rock band was active from 1991 to 2004 and then later from April 2010 since. The band has sold more than half a million albums in Canada.

Big Sugar officially formed in 1988 in Toronto, Ontario, consisting of vocalist and guitarist Gordie Johnson, bassist Terry Wilkins, and drummer Al Cross, though the three musicians had already played together for several years as an informal jam band with members of the Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, and as a supporting band for Molly Johnson's jazz performances. After Molly Johnson returned to rock music with Infidels, she helped her former bandmates to secure a record deal; their eponymous debut album was released in 1991 on Hypnotic Records.

Well, this was an awkward post to do, to say the least.  Not awkward because it involved cheating, let' face it, cheating is something that will always be... but awkward because we are pointing out the cities with the most cheaters!

MANDARIN Restaurant

Mandarin Restaurants is a chain of all-you-can-eat Chinese-Canadian buffets found in the Canadian province of Ontario. Mandarin Restaurants was founded in 1979 by James Chiu, George Chiu, Diana Chiu and K.C. Chang of Taiwan. There are currently 21 locations in Ontario. The restaurants offer à la carte, take-out and delivery items such as chow mein, noodle dishes, stir fry, and prime rib, as well as a salad bar, grill counter, sushi table, and ice cream bar desserts. The first restaurant was a small à-la-carte restaurant in Brampton, Ontario. The buffet concept was introduced in 1987 with the opening of their first franchise location in Missisauga. The headquarters, in Brampton, includes a corporate restaurant, a banquet facility, a warehouse, and the corporate head office.

On July 1, 2009, Mandarin had a day-long free buffet to any Canadian Citizen as part of their 30th anniversary celebration and to commemorate Canada Day. They had done so on several previous Canada Days as well. The requirement is that the patron must have proof of Canadian citizenship. Due to the large turnout in each of the 21 locations, police were hired to control crowds, with some locations having excessively long lineups that some patrons had to be turned away. As many as 30,000 spring rolls were served during the event in all locations. In addition, due to the high costs of offering free meals in one day, Chiu stated that this event would occur once every approximately five years.

✚Canada Health: Top 10 Types of Organ Transplants in Canada

According to the Canadian Organ Replacement Register (CORR), there were over 2100 transplants of organs in all provinces in the year 2010.  2102 transplants to be exact.

The most transplanted organ? - Kidney, with deceased donor kidneys being transplanted more than living donor kidney.

  4. Heart
  5. Lung (bilateral)
  6. Kidney and pancreas
  7. Lung (single)

Interesting Enough and In Comparison...

The total number of organ donors for the same year - 1023.
Deceased organ donors - 466
Living organ donors - 557
The province of Ontario had the most with 464 donors.

Number of transplant recipients will be less than the number of transplants as some patients have received more than one transplant/more than one organ. Kidney-pancreas transplants, however, are not included under kidney transplants or under pancreas transplants.

Not all types of transplants are performed in each province.

Data Definition:

Deceased Organ Donor: A person for whom neurological death has been determined, consent has been obtained and organs are offered for transplantation. Neurological determination of death means that there is an irreversible absence of clinical neurological function as determined by definite clinical and/or neuroimaging evidence. Within CORR, deceased donors are defined as those donors who originated in Canada and who have had at least one solid organ used for transplantation. Solid organs that can be donated after death include the heart, liver, kidneys, pancreata, lungs, intestine and stomach.

Living Organ Donor: A donor with a biological (related) and/or emotional relationship (unrelated) to the transplant recipient. Living donors most commonly donate one of their kidneys. A lobe of the liver, a lobe of the lung, a segment of the pancreata or the intestine may also be donated by a living donor. At the time of this report, living pancreas and intestine transplants had not been performed in Canada.
